The challenge
When Rebox came into this picture, this enterprise-sized retailer was sourcing new corrugated for the majority of its needs. At 4.26 million boxes per year, they were already receiving impressive volume-driven rates. Their longstanding relationships with traditional box suppliers gave them pricing power that most programs never get to compete against.
The bar for a reused-box program wasn't "cheaper than a small buyer would pay." It was to provide even more value and savings than an already-optimized enterprise supply chain was.
The relationship and solution
Rebox qualified a reused-box program for the retailer across 3/4 of its distribution centres, solidifying a long-term partnership. Our account team continues to make in-person visits to multiple distribution centers to meet the facility teams directly, and coordinate the retailer's procurement and sourcing organization as it evolves.
When a DC ramps staffing mid-month and needs extra loads with a few days' notice, or when a facility needs an expedited PO for a specific box size, we are close enough to adapt and fill it. Rebox behaves like part of the retailer's own logistics operation, not an outside vendor.
The financial results
-
~30%Lower cost than new corrugated on every once-used box the retailer buys.
-
$900KIn cost savings per year across all distribution centres.
The environmental impact
Annual savings across all DCs (~4.26M boxes)
